"Good Web, Bad Web"
By Beau Hebert
I'm sure you've heard it all, just as I have, "It's the tool of Satan." "It's nothing but a trash pile." or maybe if you're lucky, "It's brainwashing all of you kids!" What Is the topic here? No, not Death Metal rock music, not even late night cable shows; the tool under fire here is the World Wide Web. So, is the Internet really evil? Is it a tool of the Devil? Let's check the facts. . .
There are tens of thousands of new pornography Web sites appearing every week, occult pages at every turn, and even a handful of anti-God sites. Children are being stalked, teen's minds are being filled with garbage, and adults are being scammed. It seems pretty clear; it must be a tool of Satan and of no use to us Christians, right? Wrong. From the information above we can see that Satan truly has his hands in the 'net but does that mean the cause of Christ can't also benefit from it?
Let's take a look at Television for a second. . .In recent years the debate over trash on TV has become more and more prominent. There are channels devoted totally to immoral filth, and it's all starting to slip into the normal every day sitcoms and talk shows. TV must be a tool of Satan and of no use to us Christians, right? Wrong! While 99.9% of what is on Television these days is filth, there are actually a small number of God honoring shows, and even stations out there. Through the outreach of these ministries millions have been won to Christ. Useless to Christians? I don't think so.
The same applies to the Internet. While Satan has his grips around the Web, Christians can still have a powerful presence in Cyberspace. There are literally millions of Christian Web sites and Internet Ministries covering the Internet; tiny little lighthouses spreading the light and guiding souls to Christ. The Bible says in Romans 10:13, "Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." I would think that includes Web surfers and 'net junkies too, don't you? :-)
The Internet can be a blessing or a curse; the choice is up to you.
