"What Is Christianity"
By Alina Bentley
A Christian is someone who believes in and obeys Jesus Christ ' that is believes that Jesus is the Son of God, that he died to take away the penalty of our sins, and to restore us back into a right relationship with God. The Bible talks about this decision to believe and obey as repentance which means to turn away from sin and toward God.
If we do this, it changes our whole view of life. No longer is this life the only thing there is. On the contrary this life is but a very short time when compared to the eternal life that believers are promised in Heaven. No longer do we just want to please ourselves, but we want to please God our Creator and Father first.
Unless we understand the death of Jesus, we cannot possibly appreciate why our Lord came into human history. There are a lot of religions in the world, but only in Christianity is salvation a free gift, offered not because we deserve it, or can possibly earn it, but because of God's grace.
All we have to do to be in a relationship with Jesus is ask! It's that simple as said in Revelations 3:20.
"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him and he with me." ~ Revelation 3:20.
Christianity today is the world's most widespread religion, with more than a billion members. According to an article written in January 2003, Christianity experienced explosive growth in Africa, Latin America and Asia during the twentieth century. Currently, 480 million people in Latin America call themselves believers, along with 360 million in Africa and 313 million in Asia compared with 260 million in North America.
If you haven't already, won't you make the choice today?
