"Living For God"
By George Blanchard

As teenagers we are at a point of decision making.  The choices we make today may affect many of our tomorrows.  I'm sure you have asked yourself before, "What am I supposed to be doing for the rest of my life?"  Here's the answer: you should be doing what God wants you to do; don't live your life as your own, and certainly don't live the way others want you to.  In the end it will come to just you and God (Matt. 10:39).  No, I do not believe every single one of us will be Preachers or Missionaries, but I can promise you that whatever God has in store for you is better than anything you could have planned for yourself!

Another point I want to make is that no matter what you become, it is extremely important to make sure it is God's will.  I know you have probably heard this before, but it is the truth and is worth repeating.  You will not be happy in this life unless you are living in, and fulfilling God's perfect will for you.  Whether a doctor, lawyer, or construction worker, we are all called to our particular careers for a reason.  It may be years before you realize the reason, but follow God's will and then, and only then, will you be truly happy.  No matter what God calls you to, it is important that you remember that we are all to witness, we are all to spread the Gospel (Matt. 28:18-20).  Yes, even in your future workplace!  Start now, study your Bible, and get deep into His Word because when you get out in the world you will be glad you have the Scriptures on your side.

Through these years of decision making remember that you may disappoint people, for example, if you are called into the ministry your unsaved relatives may see it as a waste.  Do not let this worry you, because our main goal in life should be to please Christ, all other things aside.  Not everyone will be satisfied with the choices you make, but if you include God, those choices will be the right ones.

In closing, remember that our Lord is the Great Counselor; if anyone can help you it's Him.  Pray for God to show you His will and when you believe He has, thank Him and pray for peace about it.  I know that through our generation living for God, and not being ashamed of what we believe as we go out into the world, we can turn this world around for Christ, and praise God, WE WILL!  May God Bless you as you search for His Will!
