"Are You A Christian?"
By George Blanchard
Sweat's rolling down your forehead, your heart beats faster and faster as your lips dry up and your tongue sticks firmly to the roof of your mouth. What Is just happened? No, the girl you asked to the prom hasn't finally answered you, but you have just been asked if you're a Christian. You think: "What am I going to say?" "Should I run?" "Do I lie?" These thoughts, fellow teen Christians, have been through my mind also. (And don't run it does not help at all!) What you should do is say, "Yes I am a Christian, and it's great!" and mean it! Then go from there, the Lord will help you with what to say. Who knows, maybe this person heard of Salvation and wants to find out more about it; you may be their last or only chance.
Jesus said in Mark 8:38, "Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words, in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels." So think about it, would you rather be embarrassed in front of friends or in Heaven in front of the Lord and everybody up there? I know what I would choose, what about you?
Remember, if you really are embarrassed about your Christianity and witnessing, talk to your youth pastor or another Christian you can trust. Most importantly, pray and ask God for wisdom on how to handle situations like these, and the boldness you need to tell this world about Christ. The apostle Paul said in Romans 1:16, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." Let us all strive to be like Paul today, because nothing in life matters if you don't have Jesus.
There are billions waiting, start by telling one.
